Vase Folha medium by Oca
This unique wooden vase is a true work of art. Handcrafted from jatoba wood, it features a beautifully curved shape that adds a touch of elegance to any space. The irregular shape of this vase-like sculpture adds an element of intrigue and makes it a standout piece.
The "Folha" collection symbolizes the dance between life and death, rebirth, representing the first leaf that emerges from the ashes after a fire. Each piece is crafted from branches that would have been destined for firewood, using solid wood hand-carved to explore organic shapes and movements. As a result, each piece is unique and carries its own story.
About the artist:
Renan Santos and Juliana founded Oca Design Studio in 2015, blending design and art to craft contemporary artefacts from reclaimed natural materials. By partnering with local agencies, they repurpose felled trees into unique, handmade pieces, taking up to a week for some items. Finding creativity in the place where nature and culture meet, they create pieces like the Jatoba Vase, echoing indigenous traditions. Their work encapsulates Brazil's history, people, and landscapes. The wooden vases bear scars, are symbols of survival and revival, embodying the essence of their art practice.
